Stormhoek Bloggers Braai

"An event where we hope to not only knock your socks off, but your trousers too."

This is the first event bloggers have an opportunity to visit the Stormhoek Vineyards. The farm is nestled in a valley below the Groen and Sneeu mountains - also known as the Limiet mountain range - about 10km outside Wellington.

A visit to Stormhoek is a memorable event. With its 160 year old farm house and very rural setting the lack of modern conveniences like "connectivity"  transports you into another era.

The valley has unique climatic conditions and environment features that make it very special as well.

The never to be forgotten event

Date: 23 March 2007

Time: 18h00 and on into the night

Travel time: allow 1 hrs 20 mins from Cape Town city centre

Location: Klein Doolhof Farm, Wellington

Telephone: (021) 864 3155 if you have any questions

Some more details of the event are that:

  • It will be limited to the first 25 confirmed bloggers
  • Bring yourself, a camera, a warm top
  • We will do a walk and talk around the farm through the vineyards  for those who arrive before dark
  • Bring a sleeping bag and pillow and you are welcome to stay overnight as there is plenty of room under roof for folks to crash
  • To book just add your name. The password is stormy.
  • There are new generation wines for tasting

  • Cath ("the Love Tour") and Alistair from Stormhoek UK will be in town for the event

Directions

For those of us with a GPS Latitude: 33 degrees 37' 56'' South and 19 degrees 4' 48'' E

For those less priviledged: Drive to Wellington, turn right down the main road as if to ascend Bain's Kloof, just after Bovlei (just outside town as you start climbing Bain's Kloof - the big white cellar on your right), you will encounter a turnoff going to the left ("Agter Paarl") as well as Redemption Leather works (on your left), hang a left and turn almost immediately right. At the T junction turn right and just keep on for about 7km until you reach the "Doolhof" gates, the just keep to the right until you see the "Stormhoek, Siyabonga" sign and finally the red brick road going up to your right. Follow this and park anywhere - up the road, down the road or even in front of the barn if there is no more parking. Make your way up to the house and voi la - you are here.
